  How do I get a library card?

  Getting a library card from the Spencer County Library is easy and it's FREE to

  residents!  Your library card grants you access to thousands of books, audios,

  DVDs & e-books.  You may also set up and access your account online in order

  to reserve/renew books, and more.  Don't miss out on all the fantastic benefits. 

 

 

To get your library card:


1.  Present a photo ID with name and picture
2.  Complete registration card with valid phone number and mailing address. 

3.  Children under 14 must have a parent or guardian's signature. 

4.  Your phone number will be verified.

5.  There is a limit of two books on the first checkout.  Limit ten items per card.

6.  Non-residents are required to pay a yearly fee of $25.00 unless they work, own land, or have a child who attends
     school in Spencer County,

7.  U.S. military will not be charged.

8.  There is a $3.00 charge to replace lost cards.


What can I check out?  How long is the loan period?  Are there fines for late returns?

                    

*Items may be renewed one time except the HotSpots cannot be renewed.  No reserved books will be renewed.  Any patron having a fine of $5.00 or more will not be allowed to borrow library materials until the fine is paid.  All paid fees are non-refundable.  Any patron having a fine on DVDs will not be allowed to check out DVDs until the fine is paid.


Can I make copies, send a fax, or scan to a flash drive/email?

Copies - .10 each, .20 two sided b/w, .25 color, plus tax.

Students receive $1 in copies per month.

Fax - $1.00 per page to send, .25 per page to receive, plus tax.

Scan - Courtesy scan to email or flash drive.

Do you have a notary?
Notary service is available.  Call ahead to be sure the notary is on site. 

There is no charge but donations to the library are welcomed.

 

Is meeting space available at the library?
There are meeting areas available for non-profit use. Users must fill out a user agreement and abide by the 
meeting room policy.  Please inquire at the circulation desk.  Click here to view policy.

Does the library have computers with Internet access?
Yes.  Computers have Microsoft Office and Internet access.  The library adheres to CIPA (Child Internet Protection Act).  A guardian must accompany all children age five using library computers.

Does the library offer programs for children, teens & adults?
